Duane graduated from Emporia State University in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science in business administration and joined Mize, Houser the same year. He received his CPA certificate in 1971 and became a partner in the firm in 1972. His professional experience since 1970 has been concentrated in the area of income taxation and has included significant consulting experience in areas such as corporate acquisitions and reorganizations, purchase and sale of business interests, structuring for private capital investment, real estate transactions, business valuations, business and personal income tax and financial planning, and estate planning.
Duane is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and has served his profession as president of the Northeast Kansas Chapter of Certified Public Accountants, as a member of the board of directors of the Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants, and as a member of various income tax-related committees. He has been active in various civic affairs, including president of the Topeka 20-30 Club, board member of the Brewster Place Retirement Center, treasurer/board member of Topeka’s Ronald McDonald House, treasurer/board member of the Topeka Collegiate School, and treasurer/board member of the Topeka Community Foundation.
