Family: Jim and his wife have four sons and one grandson.. Passions: Cars, boats, and motorcycles

Jim spent his childhood on the east coast. After earning bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting from the University of Kansas, he did a tour of duty overseas as a Navy supply officer. Following his discharge from the Navy, he chose the Midwest as the ideal place in which to raise a family. Having had a taste of public accounting in college, he reconnected with that same local CPA firm, where he ultimately became a partner. Through growth and merger, that firm became the Lawrence office of Mize, Houser.

Jim works extensively in tax planning and compliance, and in strategic planning with small to medium-size businesses. His practice also includes a broad array of not-for-profit organizations. He finds his long association with the same clients the most rewarding aspect of his career. His deliberate efforts to cultivate strong client relationships has resulted in a very loyal base of clients.
