The Custom Wood Products/Mize Houser relationship began in 1991 when our IBM rep introduced Mize Houser as the firm to write the custom order processing and job tracking system we needed for our new AS/400.
From that we have worked with Mize Houser’s developers to create a system I can’t imagine running this business without! Over the years, we’ve collaborated to take that original system beyond what we could ever have envisioned. Today our system interfaces with equipment on the shop floor – sending “cut orders” to saws. Our web-based Partner Site has cemented relationships with our dealers across the country by enabling them to create estimates and place and track orders - plus they’re amazed at the insight our salespeople have into their operations when they get together. And we’re doing more without adding people.
In 1998 we were looking at a significant investment to upgrade our AS/400. A couple of painful lessons learned about disaster recovery coupled with the opportunity to see how fast Mize Houser’s system ran (even remotely) made us seriously consider – and accept - their proposal to host our applications. Now we don’t worry about disaster recovery planning or hardware and software upgrades.
We see Mize Houser as an extension of Custom Wood Products. Based on the level of trust we have with them, we talk to them first - regardless of the challenge we’re facing. They’ve made it their business to understand ours and together we come up with ideas to constantly improve our processes and grow our business. Just as we want our customers to have a great experience with us and tell their friends, we have had a great experience with Mize Houser and I’m passing it on!
